Catfish for Nolan

We went to the neighborhood pond for 30 minutes before church tonight.  Who said fishing takes patience..haha



Nolan's first hit in machine pitch...

Good thing this boy knows how to hit b/c he looks like a ballerina playing 2nd base.

He is having fun though, the 1st night he sat out for an inning and yelled, "Hey Mom, look at me, I get to sit in the dougout and rest", with a big grin on his face. Not sure he is going to be my competative athlete but he sure does know how to have fun.

organized team sports has begun

Nolan and I went to the parent meeting for soccer at the YMCA. He was really excited but I think I might have been even more. When Nolan was getting dressed to go he said, "Dad, I'm going to be a soccer-aholic." When we got there he saw his friend Luke and they were both thrilled. We ended up inviting them over to play a little backyard soccer and cook some steaks on the grill. We played a dad vs. son game. They may have struggled a bit with their foot skills but after scoring they had their celebration down; high fives and all.

He will be practicing one day a week and his games are on Saturdays. This is the start to what I am sure is a long road to many practices and games, but I can't wait!

Bedroom Soccer on MLK Day

Bethany and I bought a new mattress. It won't be here until tomorrow but we put our old one away today. I took advantage of the rare oppertunity of having a bedroom with no bed and had a little soccer game with the boys. As you will see, Nolan was practicing his skills, and Dad was giving Salyer his first lesson.

Nolan got new shingaurds with birthday money.  I can't wait until he starts playing team sports next year, I mean, he can't wait until he starts team sports next year.  Below is a video of his first practice in the homemade backyard stadium.

Friday the 13th

The scariest thing about Friday the 13th was having 3 extra kids over.  Just kidding.  It was a blast!  The night was full of events.  Everything from playing hockey, cheerleading, making Valentine crafts, wresling, watching a movie and even hide-n-go seek.  Sorry Amy and Andy, while you were having a nice romantic evening out, your kids we beating up on each other.  Believe it or not there was not one tear shed.  Are we great babysitters or what...

In the spirit of the season...

We are going to an Oklahoma Blazers hockey game tonight. Last time we went Nolan was really into the game. This time may be different due the fact that two twin 5 year old boys will be with us. An update will be coming soon for proof on whether Nolan is a true hockey fan or not...

two days of fun

Nolan, the road warrior, had a blast driving his own vehicle to the park. He only ran into one curb and one parked car. Not too bad for 2, although he did set the alarm off on the car when he smacked right into the front drivers side tire. What a trip!




On Tuesday night, which is the Barkocy family night, we went downtown for Nolan's second Redhawks game of the year. It was so fun watching him have the time of his life. I think he dreams about baseball every night. It probably didn't help much when Uncle Patrick took Nolan down to the front row and got the team to throw the game ball to him at the end of an inning.

Not about Nolan

Sorry about posting something without Nolan, but we had so much fun without him we wanted to share it. I don't think parents can meet full parenting potential without also getting quality mommy and daddy time. Anyway, Bethany and I left the little one with Grandma Barkocy and went to Dallas for a long awaited weekend for two. The first day was all about Bethany with shopping, shopping, and fine dining and the next day was for me. We met some friends at an adult arcade restauraunt and then watched a major league soccer game. Thank you Kathy for your help, we had a blast!

I took Nolan to an indoor go-kart track the other day. He is too small to ride but he had a blast watching. It wasn't bad for me either knowing I was saving about 27 dollars. I know that wont last forever though.

are we going to a baseball game daddy?

Nolan asked me that question at least 5 times a day for a week. Finally I was able to answer yes when I woke him up this morning. After dressing him in his Red Sox jersey and gather two baseball gloves; one for him and one for his friend Luke, we were off to DT OKC for a minor league game. The weather was perfect, the boys were extatic, Luke's dad Jamie and I were off work on a Monday...what a day.
