Nolan is now 3 years old and the questions have been flowing. Why, why, why is all we hear at the Stayton house, in the car, and on the way to the house and the car. Some questions are hilarious, but for a 3 year old, these questions are for him just as important as any question we as adults ask to ourselves and in our prayers. What I find myself doing so often is answering Nolan with, "Because" or "Because I said so". I remember vowing that I would never say that to my children because my parents would say that and frustrate me so much. Now, of course, here I am saying it again and again to my own child. Obviously we respond this way often because we lose patients, but we also say it due to the fact that we know our children are going to figure it out eventually on their own, ask such a silly question that it never needs to be answered, or already know the answer because we have given it to them time and time again. Wow, isn't that exactly how our Father in heaven deals with us. Prayers that we send up are so often filled with questions that feel are so important, but they are usually silly or obnoxious because we are going to figure it out eventually on our own, ask such a silly question that it never needs to be answered, or already know the answer because he has given it to us time and time again.
